iSportsTracker is in the AppStore again! Finally!

It was a long, long way to the App Store for iSportsTracker v. 2.0. We fixed a lot of bugs, made it more faster, stable and easy to use app. I hope it's most feature-full GPS sports tracker for iPhone. And it's important that IST is fast and energy efficient enough to beat most of the competitors. Some apps has features that IST is still missing, like audio cues, but do you really need them? I don't. There should be a line that when get crossed makes an app completely unusable and clumpy. I hope we haven't crossed it yet and will newer do.

So, what's new in this version:

  • New Graphs. Zoom & scroll to view your performance over time.
  • MapMyTracks integration. Now it is possible to track your activities in real time with MapMyTracks. So everybody can follow the activity at MMT website as it happens!
  • Photos uploads to Google's Picasa Web Albums. Easy way to export photos from your iPhone! Whenever you select Picasa for upload iSportsTracker will create an album with the same title as your training has and upload all your training photos to it.
  • Photos uploads to Everytrail.
  • Twitter status update now looks like "Just finished 9.9 mi run with @isportstracker. Check it out on @everytrail (http://bit.ly/EXAMPLE), @runsaturday (http://bit.ly/EXAMPLE) and photos on Picasa (http://bit.ly/EXAMPLE)". Links here point to existing training data or photo albums and added to the message only if you uploaded training data / photos as public (see below).
  • Manual workout adding. Starting from this version iSportsTracker can record your gym workouts as well. We've added treadmill, stair climbing and indoor cycling activities. You can export these workouts to Twitter & Picasa (photos) at the moment, but Stuart from RunSaturday were almost ready to add this functionality a couple of month ago :)
  • iPod integration. Select your favourite music in Settings -> iPod (any Playlist, Artist, Album, Track or any mix of them). iSportsTracker will start playing when you start an activity, pause playing when you pause an activity and stop when you stop. That's it.
  • You can now export your training data and photos as public or for private use only. See Settings -> Export -> Service Provider. Only if supported by service provider.
  • GPS calculations improved. It takes less time to find your location, it takes less power, it is faster!
  • One more important feature - ability to lock your iPhone with iSportsTracker running in background. You can now safely turn off the screen by pressing sleep button when iPod is playing. BUT! This will not work under iPhone OS 3.0 due to bug in iPhone OS implementation. So, you'll need to upgrade to 3.0.1 or later to get this working.
  • A lot of performance optimizations, so the app is MUCH faster and responsitive now!
  • Various UI enhancements like new auto-pause alerts, larger 'Details' & 'Photo' buttons, new Graphs design and so on.
  • A LOT of bug fixes.

We decided to sell iSportsTracker starting at $0,99 or €0,79 couple of weeks, next $1,99 (€1,59), $2,99 (€2,39) and so on until we decide to stop. That's not so much, isn't it?

As usual we're eager to hear from you at our Feedback Forum!

First day is gone
2009.08.02 16:08:11

First of all, thanks to all of you for being with us!

After The First Day we had 480 downloads, now (after 3 days) - more than 1k. Pretty good results concerning no ads, no coverage in blogs, no ads on Service Providers' pages.. Some of you have already tracked some workouts using iSportsTracker, some of you contacted our support email and even posted something in feedback forum. We really appreciate any feedback coming from you, so do not hesitate to contact us with any wishes, problems or questions!

Just as we planned, first release opened up some problems..

First - PLEASE, report about any crashes to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Or, better, turn on "Send crash reports" feature in iTunes.

Second - some users reported that they were unable to activate iSportsTracker account. This is because of our crappy email subsystem which still cannot send messages in right format. So, probably you've received an activation link like "http://isportstracker.com/index.php?option=com_user%26task=activate%26activation=3bfda348243ae5940aa276d8fbae2283\r\n\r\nAfter". All you need to do to activate your account is copy-paste the link above and remove "\r\n\r\nAfter" from it. So right link will be "http://isportstracker.com/index.php?option=com_user%26task=activate%26activation=3bfda348243ae5940aa276d8fbae2283". That's it. We will fix that on Monday, I think.

Third - our server is overloaded. This is why we're going to move to another box on Monday - Tuesday - Wednesday. Sorry for inconvenience, but the process includes domain transfer and it requires some time to be offline. I'm really sorry, but we have to do this now. You'll not be able to upload training data, also do not believe the app when it tells that there is no internet connection - there is just no server. You still can track your workouts and upload them later. Thanks for understanding!

Fourth - we will remove iSportsTracker from the App Store today. This is primarily because of "third", but is also to have some time to fix bugs / resolve problems. We'll be back with next cool version 2.0 of iSportsTracker (scrollable / zoomable graphs, iPod controls, couple of new Service Providers and manual treadmill workouts adding). Stay in touch!

And in conclusion, once again, THANK YOU for being with us!

We're in the App Store!
2009.07.30 15:44:36

Okay, our brand-new app iSportsTracker has been approved by Apple just today!

I woke up this morning to see an email from Apple with holy "Your application is Ready for Sale". After nearly month spent on rejections & negotiations with Apple Review team and nearly half-year spent on design, development and testing we're finally there! I'm really excited to tell about that. Every 5 minutes somebody registers his new account at this site. iSportsTracker is now installed on iPhones from USA, Canada, UK, France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland, Finland, Russia, Indonesia & Australia. It took only 5 hours!

iSportsTracker is in beta now, so we'd appreciate any feedback from new comers! Feel free to share your thoughts with us on our feedback forum. If you have any questions check out our Tutorial or contact us via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Hope you'll like our app!
